There, the teen meets Peregrine of Starburn, who was cursed and forced to pretend to be the witch's daughter, and his companion Betwixt, a chimera. Saturday, Peregrine, and Betwixt undertake a fast-paced adventure to keep the witch from casting a spell that will open a portal to the demon realm and destroy their world. As the thinkers have said, you should strive in all situations to know yourself and know your enemy. Most of history's great thinkers, however, were not in business. In business, you have to know your customer and understand how your company interacts with him or her. The current term for this is customer relationship management (CRM), and The CRM Handbook is the best textbook for managers on the mechanics of CRM. It's a standout in a field that's filled with squishy books that go on at length about how important CRM is, but which lack details. Jill Dyché provides lots of factual information, real case studies, carefully considered commentary, and reasoned criteria with which to evaluate CRM products and strategies. Though you'll certainly want to supplement Dyché's work with vendors' product literature and implementation proposals, you'll get a lot from her carefully researched book.

Dyché devotes some of her (fairly slender) volume to CRM background information but quickly gets to the issues that managers confronted with CRM decisions need to consider. She makes great use of bulleted lists, scorable quizzes, and checklists (sections about what questions to ask vendors, and why, are particularly good) that you can use right now to gauge any organization's suitability to CRM and determine how they need to change in order to get the most out of their systems. --David Wall

Awesome if you don't have a clue about CRM!

If you wanna know step by step, get this one. It's clear, have good examples, figures and everything so you can understand how to do CRM at the beginning and a preview for what could come on.

If you know about CRM, this book could be kinda boring..but if you don't care about reading from the beginning again..get it! It's good for coaching.

The State of the Art Textbook for Family Medicine

This is the state of the art textbook for Family Medicine. The book is comprehensive, accurate, and interesting to read. It is also a very efficient way to look up information quickly during clinical sessions. We have several copies in our clinic, and we use it extensively to teach our residents. I have used the previous version of this book as a book prize at graduation for outstanding resident performance.

Since I am a visual person, I find the comprehensive collections of photos and graphics to be a great way to learn. It was a great resource for my personal board recertification preparation this spring. The photos draw you into the material, and it helped me to sustain my energy for some longer study sessions. I personally own the iPad and the hard copy version, and I think both are excellent.

Excellent resource

This is truly a comprehensive atlas. It includes everything from radiographic images to detailed diagnoses, with an especially impressive section on dermatology. Clearly, this is a "must-have" for anyone in a clinical primary care setting. It is great for anyone in training and a quick reference for those in practice.

The photos are high quality and the accompanying clinical information is helpful as well. There really is not another book out there that combines all elements of primary care with photos and up to date, useful explanations.

Practical, concise and beautiful.

The Color Atlas of Family Medicine is an exceptional reference for the practicing physician, medical student or resident.

In an era where good medical content is freely available on the internet, traditional textbooks require too much searching and extended reading times, only to find that the information is incomplete or outdated. In contrast, this book allows focused and concise review of a very broad range of topics relevant in the clinical setting.

As its title indicates, the book is filled with extremely detailed and well reproduced photographs, covering all the major fields of family medicine. Even with broadband connections, high quality photos and graphics are much slower and grainier on the internet than in a well-organized book.

The section on dermatology alone would make a great stand-alone reference text.

Most books that are presented as an `atlas' pay less attention to the text than the graphics. However, the information in this book is packed with concise, practical, and timely information that fully compliments its graphics and is a joy to use.

Each section is beautifully presented, each topic introduced with a patient scenario. This provides a natural clinical overview of the topic and, throughout the text, highlighted by superb photos and graphics. It is therefore easy to review a subject `real time' in the office or clinical setting.

The book also covers common family Medicine procedures including colposcopy, dermoscopy, and intralesional steroid injections. In addition, it covers many common areas of Family Medicine often sparsely covered in training, such as Podiatry, physical and substance abuse, and end-of-life issues.

A wonderful and nearly unique feature of this book is that most recommendations indicate a "strength of recommendation" based on the quality of information derived from evidence based medicine.

Also, as someone who has been a clinical instructor for Family Medicine residents, this is a great resource to "fast track" the experience of seeing and taking care of a patient with a particular problem or to allow a quick topic review of a patient that is being seen in the office or clinic.

Much is being said about the medical home. This book will provide much of the support and information needed to turn your practice into a medical home and support your development in the art of medicine.

Journey to the Center of the Earth meets The Time Machine

A scientifically well-thought out concept. In the tradition of Verne and Wells with some factual scientific mumbo-jumbo, in the style of Crichton and Kerr, thrown in to show the reader that the writer has a college education. Although "Subterranean" has all those geological and anthropological terms that most normal people would stare at and skip to the next word, it also has a quality that makes you use your imagination. It helps to expand your mind as well as your creativity. Detailed descriptions of the inside of a cavern transports you inside that cavern with the characters. Fast-paced action with snappy dialogue kept this reader up well past his bedtime. And it's sure to cause some long and sleepless night, but the journey is well worth it. I would tell you more about the plot and characters and suplots but that would just leave you wondering why you bought the book in the first place. Just believe me when I say the less you know the more you will enjoy it. Your friendly neighborhood bookworm.

Essentially every elite sprinter and hurdler during this time period has been biomechanically analyzed, with the goal of understanding the characteristics of great sprinters and hurdlers. This information has been used to evaluate and improve the performance of virtually every US sprint/hurdle athlete since the program's inception. From an academic perspective the book could include some of the statistical analysis rather than just averages, range and standard deviations would have helped me. Still I can accept that the variations are mentioned. I may not quite fit the target audience. That said the information and the conclusions were very useful to me. "Modern" Coaching manuals in Australia advocate a foot placement under the COG, quite at odds with the experience of those of us who could actually sprint. The emphasis on front end mechanics should now start to sink in. Australia has a lot of good young athletes, because they strike such a range of Coaches they are very confused young people. Great technical approach to the sprints and hurdling training component

Dr. Mann has always been a highly sought after clinician in terms of his ability to breakdown event specific physiological application and explain it scientifically. It is a highly technical read and not intended for the beginning or novice student of sprint mechanics. But, if you are anticipating expanding your knowledge in this area, I would definitely recommend this book as a reference and allow it to be at your disposal until you are ready for it.

This book is excellent not only for identifying proper body positions for efficient sprinting, but for giving purpose for those positions. Great book for understanding the sprints, track and field, hurdles, and more.
